Fitness Together
Give Me Exercise or Give Me Death
Basic health and fitness seminar outline

  1. A discussion about poor health conditions that can be helped or prevented by exercise.
  2. The biggest detriment to an exercise program. This is our mind. Generally we cannot think in terms of taking small steps to begin but feel we must go all out the very first day we become active. When we do this our first workout generally becomes our last. (examples will be given)
  3. The best exercise advice you will ever receive. Start and progress VERY slowly. (examples will be given)
  4. What equipment is necessary? A minimum inexpensive list will be provided including stability balls and stretch bands. (this equipment will be demonstrated)
  5. A sample workout program will be provided. Audience participation will be requested to work through this example. A discussion will center on the importance of strength, cardiovascular, core, functional, balance and flexibility training and on nutrition.
  6. Additional equipment utilization. This may be something you want to purchase or may already have.
  7. Sources of equipment- Garage sales are often good sources and equipment supplier's websites will be provided.

Smoke House
The Smoke House is a great tool for teaching techniques for exiting one's home in the case of a fire. We will show a short video, discuss the video and then practice escaping the smoke house after a little bit of artificial smoke is added to the miniature make up of the interior of a home.

  • Know two ways out
  • Crawl low and go
  • Check a door for heat before opening
  • Have a meeting place outside of the home
